I started photographing peonies when my life was falling apart, and I was desperate for something to post to Instagram. That photo resulted in my first peony envelope liner in 2016. Little did I know that photographing my favourite flower out of desperation would turn into my way of telling my stories of divorce, heartache, depression, solitude, a daughter moving away, coming full circle, and blossoming once again.
I tried to tell this story with the release of my first collection. I wasn’t ready, as I was still living it. Admitting that you have depression is difficult, it’s embarrassing. Now that I’m on the other side, I hope my story and art can encourage others struggling with depression and anxiety. There is light at the end.
These three images depict the emotions dealing with a daughter leaving home, but you’ll have to wait until their debut to read about each piece.
Finally, you can “Flourish” after divorce, depression and anxiety!
All my fine art photography prints are printed in Paris on sumptuous German Hanhemühle photo rag paper.
